Another Obscure Issue!

November 13, 2017

1998 saw the release of the one and only IRON MAN/CAPTAIN AMERICA ANNUAL! Herein they battle MODOK and A.I.M. and, in a precursor to the Civil War, they clash over the ideals of freedom versus order! Check it out!

All New But Not Different!

November 6, 2017

CAPTAIN AMERICA #695! Restoring the original numbering system is only the first step in the relaunch of Cap's comic! It's new, with Mark Waid returning to the title and Chris Samnee making his debut as artist! But it's not different! It's the beloved original Captain America, reiterating his commitment to the nation and its ideals, as he reminds us “the strong protect the weak!” And I'm glad to have him back—not a closet Nazi, not a woebegone new Cap facing a lot of hate and resistance, but the hero who knows what he stands for! Captain America!

A Rarity!

October 30, 2017

No new Cap issue this week so we've dipped into the large backlog of Cap-related comics and come up with this: CAPTAIN AMERICA/CITIZEN V ANNUAL from 1998! Citizen V, you say? Isn't that Baron Zemo when he's leading the Thunderbolts? Yes it it—but it was also the name of an authentic Golden Age hero, whose descendant dons the costume to follow in grandfather's footsteps, namely, defeating Baron Zemo!. That's a lot of Vs for one issue so until there's a team-up with V from V FOR VENDETTA, take the time to read our synopsis and review for this little-known epic!

Next Week: Cap returns in CAPTAIN AMERICA #695!

Old Secrets and New Heroes!

October 23, 2017

No new Cap issue this week so we've added two issues of one of my favorite series SECRET AVENGERS which at one point ran a series of one-shot issues penned by Warren Ellis—and they were great! Here are two of them: issue #20 features a complicated time-travel epic with Black Widow bopping around recent history to save the lives of her comrades! Then issue #21 sees Steve Rogers leading an assault on an office building with a dark and deadly secret in the basement! Check 'em out!

Then head over to the new Marvel Heroes Library (link at the top of this page) to see THE MIGHT THOR #700 and INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #593, the new entries for these beloved heroes in the new Marvel Legacy initiative! Instant classics!

More of the Same!

October 16, 2017

On this slow week we've added CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE MIGHTY AVENGERS #8-9 to complete the limited series that was born out of one event—AXIS—and vanished in another—SECRET WARS 3! Its focus was a bit goofy from being torn apart by the framing events so we've covered everything in detail! That was our goal and we've achieved it! What have you done today?
